Can AI Written Works Be Copyrighted?
Do you mean there are writers out there who use AI to create what they want and then send it to the Copyright Office claiming ownership?

Our world is changing and brain use is going out of style. Many humans no longer want to be genuine. Being fake is the new Real. Fake, as in using AI to create what we want instead of using brainpower.
Humans without creativity and innovative issues won’t hunger for AI. The ones with a-hell-of- imagination, will not hunger for AI either. Smart people who know themselves won’t see AI as a threat or competition when it comes to art and creativity.
“Human beings have dreams. Even dogs have dreams, but not you, you are just a machine, an imitation of life. Can a robot write a symphony? Can a robot turn a canvas into a beautiful masterpiece?” Carmellita
Dreams are vital to humanity, whether it is what you want or imagine for yourself and your future. Or what you see in your sleep. In my culture, dreams are warnings or messages from our ancestors, so I must keep my brain in working order to gain an understanding of my dreams and what it is telling me to do.
Though he’s a fictional character, Spooner’s words echo a growing concern in the age of AI — can a machine truly create art? While AI may excel at imitating human language, it cannot conjure imagination, feel emotions, or draw from personal experiences, the essence of human creativity. Carmellita
Human is AI’s competition, not the opposite. Annelise Lords
This piece pulled my socks off my feet.
From my perspective and research, I contend, that a writer who uses AI to generate a story, article, poem, or novel is not the author of the generated work because: Carmellita
What! Do you mean all of the efforts, time, energy, and resources you put into Chat GPT, OpenAI, and the others, your masterpiece isn’t your own. You can’t claim ownership?
1. A human did not create the original work.
2. They cannot take ownership of the work.
3. And they cannot attest to the accuracy of the work. Carmellita
You should demand your time, effort, energy, and resources back.
AI does not write or create original work.
I guess the ones investing so much time and effort in deceiving us, aren’t aware of this.
Since authorship involves creating original work whether a novel, poem, article, screenplay, or other forms of writing, if you use AI-generated content, you did not create or write original work. Carmellita
Does Carmellita have to repeat this?
You cannot ethically or legally take ownership of AI writing.
I guess she must repeat it.
Authors hold legal rights to their work, including copyright, and control how it is used and distributed. At the time of this article, the Copyright Office has received and examined multiple applications for registration of AI-generated material. Carmellita
I didn’t know this, and this is good to know that they can’t copyright what AI wrote for them. I am sure many of them have tried. AI cannot write from a place that it doesn’t have. Meaning the heart, mind, soul, and other places that many real writers write from.
Hence, the resulting works are not copyrightable based on the policy because the work has not met “the human authorship requirement.” Carmellita
Do you mean there are writers out there who use AI to create what they want and then send it to the Copyright Office to claim ownership?
I am being sarcastic. I know many have tried and some may have gotten through the loophole too. I hope not though, as dishonesty seems to be normal and acceptable to many in our world now.
And if you cannot take ownership of a work, and vouch for its accuracy, originality, and potential cultural impact, then you are not the author. Carmellita
Then why bother using AI to create a masterpiece and can’t claim ownership of it?
Robert McKee proclaims in his work Story: Substance, Structure, Style and the Principles of Screenwriting:
“A culture cannot evolve without honest, powerful storytelling. When a society repeatedly experiences glossy, hollowed-out, pseudo-stories, it degenerates. Carmellita
I and many writers pour our hearts and souls into our power of words. We do it because we love writing and aim to encourage and heal while healing ourselves too.
In essence, authentic narratives shape our collective consciousness and drive cultural evolution. Therefore, what will our culture become without the dynamism of human-written stories? Carmellita
Human stories connect the writer with the reader. What will AI-written stories connect with and to?
If your heart could speak, what would it say?
My brain doesn’t need signals that I must pay for to work. Without AI, it can still work. Bring back the use of brainpower!
Thank you for reading this piece. I hope you enjoyed it.
